Green Infrastructure Strategy

Green Infrastructure (GI) is defined in national policies as ‘a network of multi-functional green and blue spaces and other natural features, urban and rural, which is capable of delivering a wide range of environmental, economic, health and wellbeing benefits for nature, climate, local and wider communities and prosperity.’

Recognising its importance, the Council prepared this GI Strategy to help sustain and enhance in the Borough. It informed and supports Burnley’s Local Plan 2012-2032.
