Burnley Council is flying the St George’s Flag at Burnley Town Hall as England prepare to begin their FIFA World Cup campaign.

England’s opening fixture is against Croatia on Wednesday 17th June, with kick-off at 9pm BST.

Councillor Afrasiab Anwar MBE, Leader of Burnley Council, said:

“The St George’s Flag is flying at Burnley Town Hall ahead of England’s opening World Cup fixture, and I know that, like me, people across Burnley will be getting behind the team and cheering the boys on every step of the way.”

“Football has a unique way of bringing communities together, and this is our way of showing that Burnley is right behind England as they begin their World Cup journey.”
