Mayoress’s Fundraising Committee

The Mayoress’s Fundraising Committee work year round to help raise money for the Mayor’s chosen charities, which this year are:

Rossendale and Pendle Mountain Rescue Team

A registered charity, made up entirely of volunteers, the team is an integral part of the national search and rescue service. The team covers an area of around 350 square miles across East Lancashire, Pendle, the Rossendale Valley and parts of Greater Manchester.  As well as rescuing injured people, the team also assist in missing person searches, or supporting the ambulance service during severe weather conditions and where access to a casualty is difficult. Money raised will go towards the cost of kitting out a 4×4 command/rescue vehicle – www.rpmrt.co.uk

Riding for the Disabled

The group has been running since 1974, offering horse riding and carriage driving opportunities for therapy, achievement and fun, to people of all ages and backgrounds. Making horse riding accessible not only benefits those taking part, but also brings therapeutic benefits to their families and carers. Money raised will help pay for a replacement of a much-loved pony that sadly died after many years service – parasport.org.uk/opportunity/dyneley-rda-group

The Reedley-based hospice exists to promote and enhance quality of life for people with life-limiting illnesses, their families and carers, by delivering specialist and holistic palliative care, which addresses their individually assessed physical, psychological, social and spiritual needs – www.pendleside.org.uk
