The plan below shows area below the green line is now only accessible by appointment as the area is the early Victorian section which is densely populated with large historic memorials that have been identified as unsafe, posing an immediate risk to visitors due to their size and instability.
To ensure the safety of visitors to the site, access is currently only being permitted by appointment, which can be arranged by calling the cemetery office on 01282477148.
Unfortunately, appointments are only available within normal working hours and therefore are restricted to weekdays (with the exception of bank holidays). This will allow a member of staff to provide access to the appropriate area of the site and ensure the safety of visitors whilst in attendance.
We apologise in advance for any inconvenience this may cause and hope that you will appreciate the need to ensure visitors to Burnley Cemetery remain safe during future visits.
This Victorian cemetery first opened on 1st June 1856 and has provision for various denominations. It is the last resting place of many prominent Burnley citizens and has several war memorials.

Opening Times
The cemetery grounds are open to pedestrians every day of the year 8am – 5pm. The gates for vehicle access are closed at weekends and holidays however information regarding vehicular access at weekends for disabled visitors is available by calling Bereavement Services on 01282 477148.
Facilities
Limited car parking is freely available on the main entrance road. Families attending a burial may park by the chapel.
Toilets are available next to the chapel and include a radar disabled toilet.
