How much is the council’s revenue budget?
The Council’s revenue budget for 2026/27 was approved by Budget Council on 3rd March 2026 at £22.429 million, compared with £18.721 million in 2025/26. In delivering a balanced budget for 2026/27, the Council identified ongoing revenue savings of £1.062 million. Approximately 38% of the Council’s net budget requirement is funded through Council Tax.
The total Council Tax for a Band D property was set at £2,540.32 for 2026/27, representing an increase of 3.79% compared with the previous year. The Burnley Borough Council element of this charge is £351.44, accounting for approximately 13.8% of the total bill and representing an increase of 1.99% from 2025/26.
