People across Burnley are being invited to come together for a special community walk of remembrance and support for families affected by pregnancy and baby loss.
The walk, organised by Councillor Sehrish Lone, will take place on Friday 9th October, marking the beginning of Baby Loss Awareness Week.
Those taking part are encouraged to wear pink and blue, the colours associated with Baby Loss Awareness Week, as Burnley joins communities across the country in recognising the impact baby loss has on parents, families and loved ones.
The walk will also help raise awareness of the work of Friends of Serenity, a local charity which has supported families affected by miscarriage, stillbirth and neonatal loss for more than a decade.
The charity works closely with the Lancashire Women and Newborn Centre in Burnley, helping to provide comfort and support to families during an incredibly difficult time. Its work has included providing memory boxes and keepsakes for bereaved parents, as well as supporting specialist facilities and equipment for families receiving care at the centre.
To mark Baby Loss Awareness Week, Burnley Town Hall’s clock tower will also be illuminated in pink and blue.
Everyone is welcome to join the walk, whether they have been personally affected, are walking in memory of a loved one, or simply want to stand alongside families in their community.
Candles and glow sticks will be available for people taking part, although attendees are also welcome to bring their own.
The walk will take place on Friday 9th October, setting off from Burnley Town Hall at 6.30pm.
