Warm hearts, Warm spaces

Register to be a Winter warm space for October 25 to March 26 here

The cost-of-living crisis is hitting Burnley hard. Families and individuals who were already struggling are now facing even greater pressures. This winter, many of our neighbours will be forced to make hard choices, deciding between heating their homes, putting food on the table, or covering other essentials. While government support helps, it is not enough. As a community, we need to come together to ensure that no one in Burnley is left to face these challenges alone.

Lancashire warm spaces grant scheme

This grant is available to support organisations with the costs of providing a warm space for Lancashire residents to access over the winter months.

Opening date: 22 September 2025
Closing date: 19 October 2025, 11:59pm

In response, we want to work hand-in-hand with our local partners, building on the incredible spirit of collaboration we saw during the pandemic. Together, we’re strengthening the network of Warm Spaces first created in 2022 – safe, welcoming places where people in Burnley can come to keep warm, share a cup of tea and a biscuit, and connect with others.

To make sure no one is left out in the cold, we’ve pulled together a directory of all the Warm Spaces available across our town. This includes venues from the public, private, health, and voluntary sectors – all open to residents who need somewhere to stay warm, find comfort, and enjoy the simple but important gift of company.

Sharing Warm Spaces for Burnley

We know that many of our partners across Burnley are already offering warm, welcoming spaces – and we’d love to include you in our network. By registering your facilities or services with us, you’ll help ensure residents know exactly where they can go to find warmth, comfort, and connection.

If you already have a Warm Space, please share the details of your facilities and services using the short form below. It only takes a couple of minutes to complete, and it means we can add you to our directory and spread the word to those who need it most.

What you can expect if you offer a Warm Space

If you want to offer a Warm Space you will be asked to sign up to the Warm Spaces charter,

The Charter is intended to help local people who want to use the Warm Spaces to know what to expect when they step across the threshold of a Warm Space building; a guarantee of respect, dignity and warmth.

Warm Space participants will be expected to adhere to their own safeguarding policies and ensure that all staff and volunteers are briefed on these procedures.

Warm Spaces Burnley Charter

You’ll get a warm welcome as well as Warm Space

Every time you come to a Warm Space you’ll be given a warm welcome from the staff and volunteers there

Everyone is treated equally, with dignity and respect

Everyone has a right to be warm, so everyone in a Warm Space treats people, and is treated by people, with dignity and respect

Your Warm Space will be a safe space

Your Warm Space will stick to the safeguarding policies that it always uses, and it will stick to food hygiene rules too!

We’ll not tell anyone about you needing a Warm Space

If you want to share the reasons you need a Warm Space, someone will listen, but they won’t tell anyone else unless you give them permission, or they must because of their safeguarding policies.

It doesn’t matter why you need a Warm Space

Every Warm Space is a non-judgemental space; whatever the reason you have for needing to come in, you’ll be treated the same and never judged.
