Recycling/Refuse – What can I put in each bin?
To help you manage your waste effectively, here’s a simple guide to what goes into each of your household bins. Correct sorting helps us recycle more and protect the environment.

General waste
Use your general waste bin for items that can’t be recycled or put in your other bins. This includes non-recyclable plastics (like plastic bags or film), nappies, polystyrene, non-hazardous clinical waste (like bandages) and food packaging that can’t be cleaned.
Food waste
All cooked and uncooked food waste can go into your food waste bin. This covers fruit and vegetable peelings, meat and fish (bones included), dairy products, bread, cakes, pet food and plate scrapings. Recycling
Your recycling bin is for a range of clean, dry, and loose recyclable materials.
Blue Bin/Box
• Plastics: Plastic bottles, pots, and tubs (e.g., milk bottles, shampoo bottles, yoghurt pots, butter tubs) – please rinse, squash, and leave lids on.
• Tetra Pak cartons e.g. milk, juice, soup
• Tins and cans: Drink cans, food tins, biscuit or sweet tins – please rinse
• Glass: Glass bottles and jars (any colour, rinsed, and lids left on).
Grey Bin/White Sack
• Paper: Newspapers, magazines, junk mail, envelopes (with or without windows), brochures.
• Cardboard: Cereal boxes, packaging cardboard, toilet/kitchen roll tubes (flattened).
Please remember to ensure items are clean and loose, not in plastic bags.
Garden waste

Assisted bin collection
