Asbestos and other hazardous substances should never be disposed of in your general waste bin.
Any loose asbestos placed in your bin puts the health of our workers at risk.
Lancashire County Council Household Waste Recycling Centres are now accepting correctly wrapped asbestos up to a limit of 6 sheets/bags per visit and 18 sheets/bags per year free of charge.
Please take all asbestos to one of the following local recycling centres:
Before taking asbestos to a recycling centre, you need to make sure it is wrapped properly:
- It must be wrapped in heavy duty polythene sheets.
- Smaller pieces of asbestos should be double-bagged and securely sealed.
Household Waste Recycling Centres provide asbestos wrapping materials free of charge (in limited quantities) for householders. You will need to collect them from the recycling centre.
For more information about the safe handling and disposal of asbestos please visit the HSE Website.
