New – Burnley Council Online Mapping Service
The Council launched a new online mapping service in May 2025. This is still under development and new data will be added regularly over the coming months. The first data set to be added was the interactive adopted Local Plan (which was transferred from the previous externally hosted website).
Adopted Local Plan
You can view the adopted Local Plan and its accompanying Policies Maps as an interactive web-based map through the Burnley Council Online Map, (or as PDFs via the Local Plan Page.)
Planning Applications
We are working on making these available on our online map following our transition to a new system for processing applications. In the meantime you can view application documents through our planning public access.

Mario
Lancashire County Council’s Mapping and Related Information Online service (MARIO) also hosts some up-to-date planning and environmental constraints data which is available to view or download under Licence.
National Planning Data
In October 2022 the Government launched a new Digital Land planning data platform on GOV.UK to collect planning and housing data from local planning authorities (LPAs) and transform it into a consistent state across England. Anyone can view, download and analyse the data on the platform.
