Building Control Dangerous Buildings

The Council respond to all reports of dangerous buildings, walls and structures within the area of Burnley Borough Council on a 24 hour 365 day a year basis.

Dangerous buildings or structures can be caused by general dilapidation, fire, vehicular accident, gas explosion, etc

Dangerous buildings are controlled by the Council under sections 77 and 78 of the Building Act 1984.

How to Report

If you believe a building or structure poses an immediate risk to public safety please contact us in person, by telephone

To help us respond effectively to your report of an unsafe or dangerous building please have the following information available:

  • House or building no.
  • Street name
  • Town
  • Nature of problem
  • Your contact name and telephone number (this will be kept confidential)
