Wider Strategies for Burnley

The Council’s Strategic Plan is informed by a range of other local strategies.  These are outlined below:

Community Recovery Plan

The Council is a key player in Burnley Together which is a partnership that brings together a variety of services for the benefit of the local community. Read the Community Recovery Plan.

Burnley’s Economic Recovery Strategy

As the Council started to come out of the Covid pandemic emergency stage, it worked with partners to develop both an Economic Recovery Strategy and a Community Recovery Strategy.

The Economic Recovery Strategy is overseen by the Burnley Economic Recovery & Growth Board, chaired by Councillor Afrasiab Anwar, Leader of the Council.  The Board has been successful in informing and guiding both the Council’s successful Levelling Up Fund Grant Application and UK Shared Prosperity fund and involves a range of partners including:

  • Ansuka Group
  • Boohoo
  • Burnley Business Improvement District
  • Burnley College
  • Burnley & Padiham’s MP
  • Burnley, Pendle & Rossendale Council for Voluntary Service
  • Crow Wood Hotel & Spa
  • DWP
  • East Lancashire Chamber of Commerce
  • Lancashire County Council
  • University of Central Lancashire
  • Safran Nacelles Limited
  • Veka plc

The Board is supported by three task forces:

  • Place
