The Council has recognised and sought to address the issue of climate change in recent years through a number of its previous plans and strategies, and in July 2019 declared a climate emergency to highlight the importance and urgency of this issue.
To support this declaration we have developed a 5-year strategy that draws together in one place all the work that the Council is doing, and intends to do, to tackle the issues and ensure that we do everything practically possible to limit Burnley’s contribution to global climate change and adapt to its effects.
Central to the implementation of this strategy is ongoing and meaningful engagement with our partners and stakeholders. This will inform the continual development of the strategy to ensure we maximise its relevance and impact.
