Burnley Council are pleased to be able to bring you the latest business support opportunities that are available in the borough. Access as many of these services as you need to help your current and future business needs, plans and growth. Nearly all of it is available from leading industry specialists and at absolutely no cost to you!

Help available to increase the skills of your workforce

Lancashire Skills Bootcamps

The latest round of skills bootcamps have been released. Burnley College are delivering sessions on green skills in construction and additive manufacturing/3D printing. Other topics available include: hybrid electric vehicle, digital skills, and even HGV driving. These sessions are geared to helping your employees gain new skills, build their confidence and ultimately progress their careers within your business. You could even use the bootcamps as an opportunity to recruit new staff who have recently completed the course but are currently out of work.

Apprenticeship Grants

Are you a business that does not currently employ an apprentice? Have you been considering an apprentice? Lancashire County Council are currently offering a £3,000 grant for eligible employers (Lancashire SME’s in the aerospace and manufacturing sector) who take on a new recruit or upskill an existing member of staff via the apprenticeship route. The employee needs to be under 25.

Trading internationally?

Burnley businesses who export or who are considering exporting can now access specialist training, events and consultancy at no cost. This specialist support is normally only available to businesses on a chargeable basis. Tap into the expertise of the experienced team of Customs and International Trade Specialists at the East Lancashire Chamber of Commerce thanks to funding via the UK Shared Prosperity Fund.

Typical support could be; identifying/increasing international sales, streamlining your imports customs clearances and procedures, understanding compliance requirements as well as networking with other likeminded businesses.

Net-zero and decarbonisation

Have you started your business journey to net-zero? Is it on the agenda and are you aware of the latest help for businesses?

Funding provided by the UK Shared Prosperity Fund has brought together 3 key partners – East Lancs Chamber of Commerce, UCLAN and the AMRC to provide free support to Burnley businesses who are aspiring to progress their net zero transition with a wealth of information, support and guidance. Help available includes carbon foot printing, decarbonisation planning, behaviour changes, education and future skills, action planning, prioritisation and implementation.
