The hosts of the Burnley Business Awards 2024 have been revealed as Emma Morris, TV executive editor and Simon Brierley, from the East Lancashire Chamber of Commerce.

Emma is well known within the TV industry, including for her role as executive editor of the BBC’s One Show and Morning Live. A Burnley girl, Emma recently moved back to her hometown and has been vocal about the positive changes she has witnessed since she originally left for university and then to London for her career.

Simon is a Burnley stalwart, having hosted the Burnley Business Awards several times over and is a highly regarded figure within the business community.

Tickets for the event are available until the end of this month.

Emma says: “I am delighted to be co-hosting the business awards with Simon. It is clear how passionate the community is in Burnley and I’m really looking forward to finding out more about the shortlisted entrants and discovering who the winners are on the night.

“I feel proud to invite my friends to see Burnley and the surrounding area. Two of my closest mates are TV presenters Dr Ranj Singh and Gethin Jones and I regularly take them on walks around Hurstwood Reservoir and up Pendle Hill, or for drinks in town, they love it.

“I see being from Burnley as my super power and living back here makes me better at my job. At work, if one of the team says we should cover a certain topic or trend because “everyone” is talking it, I think about my friends and family here and what things are getting them talking – it’s not always aligned with what the media in London tells us! My team often teases me because I always say, ‘If I go down to Asda in Burnley right now, do you really think this is what they’re all talking about in the checkout queue?’”

Simon adds: “The Burnley Business Awards are one of my favourite events and it’s a real honour to be asked once again to co-host. The businesses in the borough are a force to be reckoned with. It genuinely is an uplifting and powerful evening to see just a handful of our organisations in one place, celebrating one another. I’m also delighted to welcome Emma as my co-host, and I know we’ll have a great time.”
