- Daneshouse and Stoneyholme
- Padiham
Whilst the schemes are in operation, private landlords must obtain a licence for each tenanted property.
Why has selective licensing been introduced in these areas?
The council sought to introduce selective licensing in several parts of Burnley because there is sufficient evidence that these areas are suffering from low demand for housing and/or poor property condition. These areas contain higher than average levels or privately rented homes, lower average house values, higher levels of antisocial behaviour, environmental crime and vacant properties, plus poorer property conditions; selective licensing gives councils the tools to help raise standards in the private rented sector.
Before introducing a scheme, the council must consult with all those likely to be affected by it. You can read more about the reasons for introducing selective licensing in these areas, as well as the results of the consultation in the following documents:
