New fitness areas and equipment for Padiham Leisure Centre

Release date:
Tuesday, 11 April, 2017

Padiham Leisure Centre is set to refurbish its gym by investing in state-of-the-art equipment.

Burnley Leisure, which runs the centre, plans to renew the ageing current equipment with up-to-date pieces and convert an under-utilised meeting room into a group cycling area for spinning classes.

Bosses hope the move will help retain membership numbers and attract new customers

The work is expected to take placein the autumn.

Gerard Vinton, chief executive of Burnley Leisure, said: “Our gyms are very popular with members and it’s essential we continue to offer the latest, high quality equipment to make sure we keep our members and attract new ones.”

Burnley Council’s chief operating officer Mick Cartledge said: “Padiham Leisure Centre is a wonderful asset to the local community and very well used.”

Burnley Council’s executive has recommended that the full council establish a budget to help towards the overall £180,000 total cost of the work. The cost will be covered by the council, the leisure trust and from the money raised by selling the old equipment.
