Burnley Literary Festival 6-9 October

For four days from Friday 6th October to Monday 9th October Burnley town centre will be transformed into a literary lover’s dream as Burnley welcomes writers, performers and poets a to help us celebrate the joy of the written word.

The festival will provide the opportunity to meet your favourite literary characters, award-winning authors, amazing storytellers, and take in colourful shows which will bring books to life. There will also be fun creative workshops, interactive film showings, with something for all the family.

BURNLEY LITERARY FESTIVAL HIGHLIGHTS INCLUDE:

FRIDAY 6 OCTOBER – Author talks from Kate Field, Natalie Flynn and SD Robertson, Alysoun Owen on How to Get Published, Creative Writing and Poetry Workshops, Translating French Texts, Prince & Prince Storytelling and a Film Showing.

SATURDAY 7 OCTOBER – Author talk from Lancashire Book of the Year 2017 short-listed writer Louise Gornall, Gez Walsh’s Poetry in Commotion Workshops, Alicia L Wright’s Fairytale Writing and Comic Jam sessions; Emma Decent’s ‘I don’t know what I’m supposed to be Doing’ performance, and Workshops for Budding Writers on Creating Convincing Characters and Finding Your Unique Voice. Plus Film ‘Sweding’ workshop and an Alice in Wonderland themed Afternoon Tea.

SUNDAY 8 OCTOBER – Teen Author Daniel Blythe, Spoke n Word Mobile Poetry Generator, Ashleigh Nugent on his award-winning memoir ‘Locks’, Forget What You Think You Know About Rap session, Flash Fiction Workshop, Poet Camile Ralphs, Open-mic night.

MONDAY 9 OCTOBER – Children’s author Dan Worsley, Neil White Crime Fiction Masterclass, Author Talks and Discussion Groups, Creative Writing Workshops including Flash Fiction and Persuasive Writing.
